The opening ceremony of the “Climate Heroes Are Growing: Ecological Play Camp” project, which aims to raise environmental leaders of the future, was held today at Muş Alparslan University with a large participation. Aiming to raise awareness on climate change and sustainability issues, this project aims to develop young people’s ecological knowledge and skills through fun and interactive methods.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Project Manager Assoc. Prof. Dr. Canan Demir Yıldız made the following assessments about the project: “In today’s world, environmental problems and climate change have ceased to be merely theoretical discussion topics and have become global issues that require urgent and concrete solutions. This project aims to provide our youth with the necessary equipment to understand these challenges and produce solutions. Ecological games will enable our youth to connect with nature and learn sustainable living practices, while also raising them to be more sensitive individuals on these issues.”

Within the scope of the project, participants will learn in depth about issues such as climate change, biodiversity and the protection of ecosystems through various ecological games, nature walks, workshops and group activities. The project aims to equip participants not only with theoretical knowledge but also with practical skills that will enable them to integrate this knowledge into their daily lives.

Our Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Yaşar Karadağ and Prof. Dr. Kenan Yıldırım, Rector Advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özalper and Assistant Secretary General Serhan Demir also attended the opening ceremony. In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. Yaşar Karadağ said, “Our youth, whom we see as the leaders of the future, will take on an active role in combating climate change thanks to this project. I believe that the project will increase their capacity to make a difference in their own environment and raise a generation conscious of environmental sustainability.”

The participants made a quick start to the camp with various activities held in an environment intertwined with nature. With the knowledge and experiences they gained during the project, the participants aim to create transformation in their own environment as “Climate Heroes.”

The project aims to offer participants an unforgettable experience as a powerful combination of education and environmental awareness.

Supported by TUBITAK 4004 Science and Society Schools, the project aims to ensure that young people take an active role in combating climate change and to build a more sustainable future by raising awareness on this issue.
